When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of B&B’s week that was.
In my last The Bold and the Beautiful centric column, I claimed that I’d support either a Taylor Hayes/Jack Finnegan pairing or one between Taylor and Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan), but I’ve slept since then, and I’ve had a good long think.
Now, despite the absolute delight I felt at seeing Taylor and Deacon playfully interact with one another, I’m really rooting for The Bold and Beautiful to invite Ted King back to town and get him opposite Allen. Why the sudden change of heart, you ask.
It struck me that if Taylor pursued Jack, rather than Deacon, it would be the first time in many a moon that she actively romanced a man that hadn’t bedded Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang, been birthed by her, or been present at her conception).
Just think about it. Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye), Thorne Forrester (Windsor Harmon), Dominick “Nick” Marone (Jack Wagner), Whipple “Whip” Jones (Rick Hearst), and Eric Forrester (John McCook), were all Brooke’s castoffs; Eric Forrester Jr. was Brooke’s son; Stephen Logan her father; and let’s not forget that Taylor was also engaged to Brooke’s brother, Storm Logan. That’s a lot of men for two women to have in common. Taylor is truly the Brooke English to Brooke’s Erica Kane (Kudos to you Bold and the Beautiful fans who got the All My Children references).
No matter the palpable chemistry between Allen and Kanan, it only seems right to me that Taylor finely takes up with a man that doesn’t have Brooke’s scent on him, or her name tattooed on his heart. Deacon’s always gonna moon over Brooke. Taylor deserves better.
* Like Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor), I, too, enjoyed Quinn Fuller (Soon-to-be ex) Forrester’s (Rena Sofer) Donna Logan (Jennifer Gareis) impression.
* Perhaps the most fun had during my marathon viewing of Bold and the Beautiful was watching Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) promise/swear to John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) that she wouldn’t snap, not ever again, and then doing everything in her power to keep that promise no matter how tempted she was to do just that.
* So, “Guthrie. Why does that name sound so familiar?” is totally going to become the new, “Why did I drink that night,” huh?
Also, I get that the Forresters are the kind who don’t give attention to the “little people” that populate their world, but I sincerely believe that even they would be able to deduce “Guthrie the prison guard” and Mike Guthrie (Ken Hanes), the security guard who toiled at Forrester Creations for DECADES, are one and the same.
I implore you Bold and the Beautiful, please stop making your characters dumb as a box of rocks just to suit your storyline requirements. That’s Shoddy Writing 101.
