When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of B&B’s week that was.

The Bold and the Beautiful: The Critic’s POV

It’s Friday (or, at least it is at the time of me writing this column), and I’ve got loads of questions. Does Li (Naomi Matsuda) have a death wish? Why is Liam (Scott Clifton) back on my screen dredging up the same talking points he harped on for months on end? Why are Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Liam acting like Deacon (Sean Kanan) and Sheila’s (Kimberlin Brown) coupling is Finn’s (Tanner Novlan) fault? Is Hope (Annika Noelle) addicted to Thomas’s (Matthew Atkinson) love? And this beauty that came courtesy of my editor-in-chief: Is there a reason no one has considered Deacon is the best babysitter for Sheila ever and if you make her lose love, she’ll go homicidal? (Points for Finn for actually floating that idea on the Friday airshow).

On the subject of Liam, I actually wasn’t too put out to see him considering the dragging he got from Finn, but I can only question where exactly Brad Bell is going with this character’s storyline. Has he suddenly caught Thomas’s case of “Fatal Attraction” syndrome?

Further B&B Musings

* At least Thomas and Hope went to the trouble of locking the door when they made love in the much-contested CEO’s office.

* For those of you who may not have noticed, B&B recently updated their opening credits (Fare thee well, Wyatt!). For those of you who have, what was up with the recreation of Clark Garrison’s old photo circa 1998 with Joshua Hoffman (RJ Forrester) as a stand-in?

* How did Hope manage to keep from choking on the sentences she was uttering to Deacon when they were the exact same ones being spit at her in regard to Thomas?

* Is anyone else already tired of Eric’s (John McCook) storyline? I’m personally fed up with the “hiding the extent of an illness from a loved one” trope and would love a more realistic portrayal of a family gathering around a patriarch as he comes to terms with what ails him.

I’m equally put off by RJ and Luna’s (Lisa Yamada) storyline which I already feel has grown stale. Will they ever have a conversation that doesn’t pertain to his keeping Eric’s secret and/or Luna’s contentious relationship with her aunt?

* Luckily it didn’t take Dr. Freud for Ridge to recognize that one of the multitude of reasons he wants to best his father is because of Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang).
