A Critic’s Review Of The Bold and the Beautiful: Holy Plot Twist

When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of B&B’s week that was.

The Bold and the Beautiful: The Critic’s POV

You will never, ever, ever, not in a million years convince me that what I saw play out on Wednesday’s The Bold and the Beautiful was the endgame that Bradley Bell originally had in mind.

Now, I’ll admit that in the moment I was floored by the revelation that Bill (Don Diamont) and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Ridge’s man bun were F.B.I. assets working towards the common goal of bringing Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) to heel — HOLY PLOT TWIST! — and I couldn’t help but rejoice that we were finally, FINALLY getting a solid explanation for Bill’s out-of-character behavior, but the obvious and numerous faults in logic soon overshadowed.

Authorities already had Sheila dead to rights (so to speak) on two counts of attempted murder, carrying a concealed weapon, leaving the scene of a crime, and I don’t know what all else because I’m not a lawyer and only know what little I do about the law thanks entirely to reruns of LAW & ORDER and L.A. LAW and my minor in Criminal Justice.

All that combined would have been enough to keep Sheila behind bars for the rest of her natural life, but instead of leaving well enough alone, Bill blackmailed her way to freedom. And now, apparently, we’re to believe that the F.B.I. was not only onboard but super cool with that…huh? Also, why is the F.B.I. even involved? What’s their jurisdiction?

I don’t…I can’t…I just…I’m at a loss. I’m at a loss, and I’m irritated, and the only thing that’s going to make me feel the slightest bit better is getting to personally part Ridge and that aforementioned monstrosity atop his head.

Further B&B Musings

* I usually devote at least a paragraph or two of every column to disparaging remarks about Thomas (Matthew Atkinson), but I’m breaking with tradition this week.

Instead, I’d like to *gulp* say something in Thomas’s favor and, in the process, probably earn myself the wrath of several of you dear readers. Here goes…I’m starting to think that maybe the problem isn’t so much Thomas as it is Douglas (Henry Joseph Samiri). There, I said it.

I mean, one day Douglas is uniting Hope (Annika Noelle) and Liam (Scott Clifton) in a kid’s idea of holy matrimony, and the next he’s curled up in his father’s lap confiding that his deepest desire is that he’ll one day live with him and Hope like “a real family” Liam be damned.

What even is that? Why is the little rascal so anti-Liam? It makes about as much sense as Bill toiling for the F.B.I.
