A Critic’s Review Of The Bold and the Beautiful: Gratifying Moment & Soap Crazy

The author’s opinions are his and his alone. They’re suitably scathing, fairly humorous, and normally bang on target.

The Bold and the Beautiful Critic's Review for December 12 – December 16, 2022

When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of B&B’s week that was.

The Bold and the Beautiful: A Critic’s Week In Review

On the one hand, it was SO gratifying to witness Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Taylor Hayes’s (Krista Allen), ‘We choose us,” moment — recent memory cannot recall a single instance in which a woman on The Bold and the Beautiful actually chose her own agency at the expense a man — on the other hand, it didn’t exactly feel earned.

One minute the shows’ perennial rivals are rabbiting on about what they have in common, then what they admire most about the other, and the next they’ve decided to chuck the man they’ve been looney over — and yes, both have them have gone full-blown crazy on a least one occasion for want of the love of Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye). Does that pass the sniff test? Not as far as I’m concerned.

And what the Saved by the Bell was that episode ending freeze frame of the two high-fiving?

Now all that remains is to see how long the truce lasts, and how long each woman keeps their vow to never fight over Ridge again. I’m guessing next Tuesday.

Further B&B Musings

* And Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) was where, again?

* At this point, in my not-so-humble opinion, the only hope The Bold and the Beautiful has at possibly redeeming Bill Spencer (Don Diamont), who continues to be presented as the very model of misogyny and out and out wretchedness, is to have him diagnosed with Bipolar disorder.

* How could Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) say, and with a straight face even, that she’d only parent-trapped Ridge and Taylor because she thought that Taylor so desperately wanted him? Why would she think that and/or how could she think that when Taylor told her, ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, that she didn’t want to take yet another chance on Ridge lest he breaks her heart yet again?

* Kudos to Kimberlin Brown for bringing the soap crazy. When Sheila Carter goes to cackling, you know you’re in for a good time.
