When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of B&B’s week that was.
Here’s what I most appreciate in regard to Li Finnegan (Naomi Matsuda) and Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood): both women have valid viewpoints.
Of course, Li kept quiet about spiriting John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) from the hospital to the most discrete out-of-the-way hotel in Los Angeles. There was the whole he could finally kick the bucket at any moment factor, the wrinkle that was Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown), and the fact that Li just straight up doesn’t care for the Forrester family as a whole. Fair enough. They’re not people I’d want to deal with for my son’s sake either.
And Steffy has every right to feel a certain way about what Li did. This woman allowed her to grieve for someone who wasn’t really dead. There was always hope of a miracle, and hope was the one thing that Steffy so desperately needed.
Kudos to The Bold and the Beautiful for telling a multi-faceted tale rife for debate amongst its devotes. It’s been a good long while since the last one.
* Praise is also due to The Bold and the Beautiful for their seeming commitment to telling at least two stories within the same episode. For the foreseeable future, we’ll have the not-so-secret kiss shared by Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) and Taylor Hayes (Krista Allen) and what that might mean for Ridge and his supposed destiny; then there’s the inevitable custody battle that will rage between Hope Logan Spencer (Annika Noelle) and Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson), and we all know that Sheila is still alive and fairly well and dead set on revenging herself on the Forrester family.
Not to mention, we still have Eric Forrester (John McCook) and Quinn Fuller Forrester (Rena Sofer) working on ending their marriage – which could provide a juicy relationship and big business drama; former cornerstones of B&B’s success – a possible reunion between Zende Forrester Dominguez (Delon de Metz) and Paris Buckingham (Diamond White), and a possible new coupling between Li and Bill Spencer (Don Diamont).
Then again, every potent plot minus the salacious smooch and the fight for Douglas Forrester (Django Ferri) could go the way of the dodo – or the way of Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks) and Flo Logan (Katrina Bowden).
I never underestimate The Bold and the Beautiful’s penchant for putting all their eggs in one basket.
