A Critic’s Review Of The Bold and the Beautiful: Channeling The Classics & Fun

When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of B&B’s week that was.

The Bold and the Beautiful: The Critic’s POV

There wasn’t much to write home about [or base a column on] this week. Liam (Scott Clifton) had the same round-about conversations with Wyatt (Darin Brooks) and RJ (Joshua Hoffman) for days on end. [Take the hint guys. He’s never, ever, ever getting back together with Hope (Annika Noelle). Like, ever].

Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Finn (Tanner Novlan) regurgitated the same banal dialogue they’ve been spewing since last week. [I get it, Steffy. Forresters good. Logans bad. Very, very bad. You’re totally without sin despite keeping a whopper of a secret from your husband, while Hope is the biggest slut this side of Brooke Logan. Blah!]

And of course, Hope (Annika Noelle) slept with Thomas (Matthew Atkinson). I/We/Everybody saw that one coming from a mile away because it was literally the only logical step — and I am using the word “logical” in its broadest sense — in the breakneck progression of this ramshackle of a storyline.

But what I will say is that I was downright tickled to see Brooke’s (Katherine Kelly Lang) channeling of the late, great Stephanie Forrester. When Brooke barked that her daughter would be returning to her husband and would forget all about her night with Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) it was like watching history repeat itself in the most glorious of ways. Lang clearly learned well at the feet of her indomitable co-star.

Further B&B Musings

* Rather than grouse, I’m going to choose to laugh at the [I’m assuming] unintentional hilarity of Katie — KATIE (Heather Tom), of all people — complaining about the blurring of professional and personal boundaries and the havoc it can wreak in the company you both work for WHILE HER CURRENT LOVER/CO-WORKER [that would be Lawrence Saint-Victor’s Carter] SET RIGHT BESIDE HER. [Also, Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), her boss and former fiancée.]
