The Bold and the Beautiful’s Exec Talks Next Steps For Liam and Sally

Liam and Sally are quickly becoming The Bold and the Beautiful‘s latest star-crossed couple. In fact, their ordeal in the Spectra Fashions building collapse has created a bond between them that’s not likely to be broken anytime soon!

B&B’s executive producer/head writer Bradley Bell recently sat down with TV Insider, where he talked about what’s next for Liam and Sally.

Bold Moves
The pairing of Sally and Liam plays well onscreen because the Spectra designer brings things to Liam’s life that his wife, Steffy, simply doesn’t. “Steffy was born with a silver spoon in her mouth while Sally provides a cause for Liam,” Bell told TV Insider.

“He fights for the underdog. Liam loves that Sally is independent and scrappy. He’s her white knight. He loves to play that role.”

Always In Fashion
It was a big gamble recreating the Spectra family by revealing a sister (Shirley) we never knew Sally had. Shirley’s granddaughters — Sally and Coco — have and continue to serve as love interests for the eligible men on the show (Thomas, Liam, and R.J.).

Bell rounded out the new Spectra gang with Darlita (a tribute to Darla, the first Sally’s ditzy secretary) and Saul Feinberg, the namesake grandson of Sally’s right-hand man.

“It takes a while to establish a family but, yeah, I think the Spectra group has been a great hit,” Bell told TV Insider when asked if he thought the family was a success. “Every actor in the group is spectacular. They’ve provided us with a necessary element for drama—the have-nots. You can’t have a show with all wealthy people.”

Past Imperfect
If you look at B&B’s past, you’ll see that some of the show’s most famous couples were where one was a “have” and the other started out as a “have-not” — Ridge/Brooke, Thorne/Macy, and Eric/Sheila.

The stage has been set for Liam and Sally to continue in this vein. As Steffy and Sally have never had a great relationship (she didn’t approve of his relationship with her brother Thomas), we can expect lots of fireworks as this story continues.
