Word is that before the baby Beth/baby Phoebe drama is resolved on The Bold And The Beautiful one of the players on the canvas will meet an untimely death. As longtime fans of the show recall, the half-hour serial is not afraid to send someone to that great soap in the sky!
Sadly, death comes to beloved characters on every soap. Here’s a look back at some beloved favorites, who are gone, but not forgotten. And, in one case, thankfully, not gone!
Sweet Caroline: Joanna Johnson brought elegance and grace to the role of Caroline Spencer, but when the actress opted to leave the show after three years, producers opted to kill the character off. Johnson returned the following year as Caroline’s twin, Karen. Today, she’s the executive producer of the Freeform series Good Trouble.
The Fein Print: Michael Fox played textiles manager Saul Feinberg and carried fond feelings for his boss Sally Spectra (the late Darlene Conley). Saul’s death was written into the show after Fox passed away in real-life in 1996. A few years ago, Alex Wyse was cast as the late Saul’s grandson and namesake.
Macy’s Special: Bobbie Eakes sang her heart out as Macy, Sally’s daughter, from 1989 to 2000. Macy was believed to have died after a tanker exploded, but she turned up alive a few years later in Italy. Alas, she died again a second time when a chandelier fell on her while she was signing at a club. Macy’s second passing took place off camera. Perhaps, she’s cheated death a second time?
Phoebe’s Fate: Phoebe Forrester (Mackenzie Mauzy) was riding in a car with Rick Forrester (then Kyle Lowder). The two were arguing when Rick crashed the car. Phoebe died. Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) honored her late sister by naming her newly adopted daughter Phoebe after her beloved twin.
Unsinkable Taylor: When Hunter Tylo took time off to do a mini-series in 1994, the show killed off Taylor only to bring her back from the dead as Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) were getting married.
Taylor’s “death” in 2002 seemed more definite after Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) shot her but, again, Taylor had been kept as a “guest” of Prince Omar (Kabir Bedi) of Morocco. She escaped and returned home.
Is there anyone other than Taylor you’d like to see come back from the dead on BB? Sound off in the comments below!
