B&B’s Sean Kanan Speaks Out on Deacon Outsmarting Sheila

The Bold and the Beautiful has set the stage for a Sheila/Deacon pairing that could be TV’s most dangerous combination since the Joker teamed up with Catwoman! But can a seemingly reformed Deacon, played by Sean Kanan, trust that Sheila won’t betray him or do far worse?

Sean Kanan Talks When Sheila Met Deacon

Sean Kanan tells Soap Hub that he never would have bumped into Sheila at Il Giardino had he not been kicked out of his daughter Hope’s (Annika Noelle) home. “Deacon was summarily thrown out of the cabin after trying to connect with Hope,” Kanan points out. “He’d certainly heard of Sheila and she’s heard about him.”

Run, Deacon, Run!

We’ve seen Sheila propose an alliance but shouldn’t Deacon head for the hills given the naughty nurse’s reputation? “Deacon has a very healthy fear — I think that’s the right word — of Sheila. She’s definitely someone who can be dangerous. She’s not the type of person whom Deacon can utilize his charm and bravado on. She’s an absolute force with which to be reckoned in terms of how far she’s willing to go and also, in terms of her intellect. He’s got a very healthy respect for that.”

Sean Kanan says rejoining B&B comes not only as a welcomed surprise but also at a very busy time in his life. “If you’d told me that this challenging year would start off with me doing back-to-back films with Bruce Willis, I’d have been in awe,” Kanan says of the movies Survive the Game and Fortress.

He’s Not Just Playing Deacon

The actor/author released another tome, Way of the Cobra, and shot a Lifetime movie, Sinister Society, directed by Lindsay Hartley (ex-Sam, General Hospital; ex-Theresa, Passions). “It’s really been an incredible year,” Kanan says. As he addresses in Way of the Cobra, Kanan says that it’s important to keep working hard to achieve one’s goals. “I’ve spent a very long time working hard, keeping my nose to the grindstone without necessarily getting tangible rewards, but this year it’s all come together,” notes Kanan. The actor took home the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Limited Drama Series for producing Studio City (Amazon Prime).

Sean Kanan says that he and his creative team are mapping out another season of the digital drama that tells the story of actor Sam Stevens, who stars on the fictional soap Hearts On Fire. “It’s all coming together,” Kanan says. “You never know if the results are going to come and if they do, you may never know what they look like. Just keep grinding away.”
