Hope Logan Spencer’s mother, Brooke Logan Forrester, is in a heap of trouble, courtesy of her alcohol-induced smooch with Deacon Sharpe — Hope’s father — on New Year’s Eve on The Bold and the Beautiful. Annika Noelle, who plays Hope, chatted with Soap Hub about her character’s dilemma and more.
Annika Noelle Has Hope For The Future
Does Hope blame herself for Brooke’s situation?
Annika Noelle: As Hope tries to understand the catalyst for Brooke’s [Katherine Kelly Lang] relapse, there is a lot of misplaced blame. She is trying to make sense of it and understand the ‘why’ of the situation when there may not necessarily be a straightforward answer. If only Hope knew what Sheila [Kimberlin Brown] had been up to…
How does Hope feel about Douglas seeing “Grandma kissing Santa Claus?”
Annika Noelle: I think this was a difficult note to play because Hope knows Douglas [Henry Joseph Samiri] tells the truth. After all, it’s what brought back Beth into her life. Initially, Hope reacts with confusion to what he is saying, but once the truth finally dawns on her, it then becomes about how is she going to handle this new information? Does she immediately go to her mother? Does she keep it to herself? Or does she hang an anvil over Ridge’s [Thorsten Kaye] head? I personally thought it might have been fun to see the latter.
My Darling Daughter
What has having Deacon back in her life mean to Hope?
Annika Noelle: There has always been the absence of a true paternal presence in Hope’s life. Whether it was Deacon [Sean Kanan], Ridge, or Nick [Jack Wagner], none of these men stuck around long enough to be a reliable father figure that she could depend on. But when she gets a chance to reconnect with Deacon after years of him being away, that is an invaluable opportunity to finally have that bond in her life. Especially now as a parent herself, Hope is determined to heal her relationship with her father.
There was talk and then talk again about Hope and Liam moving off the property into a new home. Is that something you’d like to see someday?
Annika Noelle: I would love that. I think it is important for Hope to establish independence from her mother at some point. I feel like she’s always been protected under Brooke’s wing, but eventually, she needs to step out and grow some wings of her own. And what better way to do that than to buy a house for herself…which hopefully has a bedroom.
Annika Noelle Talks Steffy and Hope’s Dynamic
Will there always be tension between Hope and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood)? Hope is with Liam (Scott Clifton). Steffy has Finn (Tanner Novlan), but it seems as if they’re both hanging onto the whole Brooke/Ridge/Taylor triangle and how that played out?
Annika Noelle: I hope that they can break out of that vicious cycle. In the past, we have seen Hope and Steffy actively fight against that toxicity and try to come together. But maybe it’s the devil you know, the patterns you see growing up, and it’s easy to fall into what’s familiar. Personally, I hope they can rise above it. While it may not make for great soap TV, I don’t think any woman should waste their time on a man who can’t make up his mind.
