Henry Joseph Samiri played a pivotal role as pint-sized-blabbermouth Douglas Forrester in The Bold and the Beautiful’s baby Beth kidnapping story. Now, the young actor is taking on a new role that shoots in a locale that’s connected to B&B’s creators.
Deadline reports that Samiri has joined the cast of a pilot for Freeform. The show doesn’t have an official handle yet, so it’s being referred to as The Untitled Julie Durk Project (with Durk serving as the show’s writer).
“Here it is!” Samiri posted on his Instagram account. “So excited to announce what I’ve been working on! It’s a wonderful script with a truly wonderful cast! Thank you to all of the people who helped to make this opportunity a reality and for everyone who supports me on this journey. It is not taken for granted! Thank you to the best team @robinweinsteinloehr and @coasttocoasttalent.”
The one-hour drama is being described as Hitchcockian in nature and tells the story of a young woman (Elena, played by Andrea Londo) who is thrown into a drama that’s filled with deadly secrets and old money. Ironically, the pilot’s story may sound familiar to Samiri as Douglas went through something similar. His character, Jasper, is described as “a shy, sad child who’s still reeling from the recent death of his mother. He has trouble trusting anyone, but we see the smart, funny, independent kid he really is when he starts to open up to Elena, who makes him laugh and feel safe again.”
As B&B fans recall, Samiri’s Douglas was introduced to the show’s canvas shortly after the death of his mother Caroline Spencer (Linsey Godfrey). Soon, Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) used Douglas as a pawn in his quest to make Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) his wife. Thomas succeeded, but soon after Douglas told Liam (Scott Clifton) that baby Beth was alive and that he could take him to her, Thomas’s scheme was thwarted with Samiri’s Douglas playing an integral role in the tale. The young actor held his own and then some with the show’s seasoned performers.
Samiri dropped a few hints on social media that he was on location in Chicago shooting the series. Chicago is, as soap fans know, the home of late B&B creators William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell.
“The view from my hotel,” Samiri hinted on his Instagram account. “Is it an ocean or a lake? Are we looking east or west?” Many eagle-eyed fans guessed correctly that he was in The Windy City.
In a follow-up post, the young actor let commenters know they were correct. “Whoever said CHICAGO was right!!! I can’t wait to share what I’m working on. So thankful to my amazing team @coasttocoasttalent and the wonderful @robinweinsteinloehr for…being the best manager I could have ever asked for!” Henry Joseph Samiri wrote. “THANK YOU!”
