When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of BB’s week that was.
Anyone else find it a bit ironic that a soap opera set in the fashion world – especially one that hasn’t staged an actual fashion show in years – produced a storyline that hinged itself entirely on a character recognizing an item of clothing she saw lying on a bedroom floor – in the dark?
Is Zoe (Kiara Barnes) really under the impression that only one woman in the whole of Los Angeles County owns a red leather jacket? Why didn’t Shauna (Denise Richards), Quinn (Rena Sofer), or Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) point out that flaw in her logic…granted she absolutely correct in her assumption – but she didn’t really know that!
Instead, Shauna offers herself up as some kind of sacrificial lamb, as if “taking one for the team” includes lying about who she has been having sexual relations with. The whole thing is just…unseemly. Kind of like Zoe’s discussing her boss’s marriage WITH HER BOSS.
Seriously, what was up with Zoe droning on and on about her newfound bestie being thrilled to be back in the arms of her husband in front of Eric (John McCook), Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang)? It was totally inappropriate. Eric, Brooke, AND Ridge all made that point clear. And yet, Zoe persisted.
But it shouldn’t come as a surprise. This is, after all, the woman who had the gall to slip into her ex’s loft apartment, walk up the stairs to his bedroom, and just let herself in without an invitation whatsoever.
And Zoe’s also the woman who loudly wondered, “What kind of woman moves in on a man who just called off his engagement?” As if coming on to Zende (Delon de Metz) while she was engaged to Carter wasn’t tacky enough.
* Just when it seemed like BB had remembered the fine art of balancing multiple plot points, we’re forced to endure an entire week where only one was sustained.
Has Baker (Dan Martin) come any closer to tracking down the hit-and-run driver responsible for Vinny’s (Joe LoCicero) death? Has Liam (Scott Clifton) got his panic attacks under control?
Has Bill’s (Don Diamont) reluctance to focus his energies on anyone that isn’t his eldest son ruined any headway he may have made with Katie (Heather Tom)? Have Wyatt (Darin Brooks) and Flo (Katrina Bowden) finally grown tired of one another? We may never know if the writers continue to fail at properly threading multiple stories per episode.
* Brooke: “Zoe’s track record leaves a bit to be desired.” Well, yes it does Mrs. Forrester. Please see our rant above. However, in the interest of all due fairness, Zoe did not sleep with Zende while engaged to Carter. And she has yet to systematically sleep with all the male members of a single family. And the less said about falling pregnant with the child of your daughter’s husband the better.
* Did Paris (Diamond White) and Zende really spend their alone time together talking about Zoe and Carter’s love life? Shouldn’t they be focusing on their budding romance? The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
