With Kiara Barnes set to exit The Bold and the Beautiful for a starring role in the upcoming Fantasy Island reboot, the soap has a big decision to make: send Zoe off into the sunset or find another actress to take on the role.

The Bold and the Beautiful — The Zoe Story Must Go On

The answer’s a no-brainer, considering the front-burner storyline the character’s currently embroiled in and all the directions it could take moving forward. The soap should recast Zoe and here’s why.

Back to Her Roots
The original Zoe was edgy and a real wild cat. You never knew what she was going to say or what antics she was going to pull next. She was feisty and fun. However, over the past year, the character’s been totally tamed – a bland shell of her old vibrant self.

After what Zoe has endured with Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) — finding out he slept with another woman a few short weeks after he broke off their engagement –- it’s the perfect time to have her revert back to her old self — and duplicitous ways. Zoe was at her best stirring the action, not having it happen around her. Now’s the time to get back to that, and Zoe needs to be on the canvas to make it happen.

The Quinn Factor
For now, Zoe’s been led to believe Shauna’s (Denise Richards) the woman who slept with her man, and she’s taken it in stride, since Carter’s assured her it meant nothing and they’ve reconciled. But imagine what will happen once she uncovers that it was Quinn (Rena Sofer), a woman she considers her friend?

Surely, Zoe will feel played and betrayed by both Carter and Quinn. The revelation could be the final straw that pushes her over the edge. It could set the groundwork for an elaborate blackmail plot as she holds the explosive secret over Quinn’s head, knowing full well that exposing it would blow up her marriage to Eric (John McCook). That’s simply too powerful a plot moment to pass up.

Sister, Sister
The soap’s also just started exploring the complex relationship between Zoe and her sister, Paris (Diamond White). There’s so much there that needs to be explained and fleshed out. Sending Zoe away would negate that possibility and leave Paris, who’s still gaining her footing on the soap, in a tenuous position.

Zoe needs to be on the scene to keep the action moving and the surprises coming. From what viewers have seen so far, there’s a whole lot more to be revealed between the Buckingham girls. It would be a shame if it never came to pass. The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
