Eric Braeden enjoys turning tricks as his onscreen persona, Victor Newman, on The Young and the Restless. But he prefers to live a drama-free life. The soap veteran is not here to play tricks on fans. He spoke out about a growing problem that he’s experienced on social media.

Brutally Honest

Braeden loves to keep it real with his fans. He took to his Facebook page to share something that’s grinding his gears. He got as fired up as Victor Newman does on Y&R. But Braeden can’t help it. This problem is ruining his social media experience.

“I have enjoyed Facebook for some time now, but am slowly losing patience in fb’s LACK OF DILIGENCE WHEN IT COMES TO STOPPING IMPERSONATORS IN THEIR TRACKS!” Braeden warned. “You guys have the means to do it and damn well should!”

The soap veteran warned fans about celebrity impersonators. Braeden has been a victim of this in the past. Impersonators create fake social media accounts in an attempt to scam their fans. But instead of removing the fake account in question, Facebook required Braeden to verify his account. He already has a blue checkmark next to his name, which confirms that his account is legit.

“Why go through the long process of verification, when you allow anyone to pretend to be someone else???” Braeden continued. “It’s a giant lawsuit waiting to happen!!” He threatened action, which is giving us major Victor vibes. We’re not the only ones who feel this.

What Would Victor Newman Do?

Y&R fans couldn’t help but read Braeden’s post in Victor’s iconic voice. One fan joked, “I hear Victor’s voice saying, ‘ya got that?” A second fan commented something similar, “I always hear your Victor voice when I read your status updates. Lol.” Meanwhile, other fans turned their attention to the problem at hand.

Someone noticed a flaw in reporting fake profiles. “Every time I want to report a fake profile, it asks me, ‘Who is this person impersonating?’ How do I get through that question?” one Facebook user asked. “You got that right! But let me say the wrong thing: Facebook suspends your page. They watch things like that, Yet they can’t see that you have a duplicate page! Smh…” another frustrated fan commented.

As always, check the legibility of any Facebook account. Make sure that it features a verified badge. Celebrities will never DM fans or ask them for money. That’s one sign that you’ll know you’re following a fake account.
