Bindi Irwin, daughter of the late Animal Planet icon Steve Irwin, and Dancing With the Stars mirrorball champion, has tied the knot. Due to coronavirus concerns, her ceremony had to be toned down — but was still quite beautiful.

Bindi Irwin Walks Down The Aisle

“We held a small ceremony and I married my best friend,” Irwin posted on Instagram of her tying the knot with her fiancé, Chandler Powell, an American professional wakeboarder from Florida.

“There are no words to describe the amount of love and light in my heart right now. We’ve planned this beautiful day for nearly a year and had to change everything, as we didn’t have guests at our wedding.

“This was a very difficult decision but important to keep everyone safe. We wish all of our friends and family could have been there with us, however it’s lovely that we will be able to share photos and videos,” she wrote.

Delivering Hope

“Right now we’re encouraging the world to hold onto hope and love, which will carry us forward during this profound time in history. Today we celebrated life and revelled [sic] in every beautiful moment we shared together in our Australia Zoo gardens.

“Mum helped me get ready, [my brother] Robert walked me down the aisle, Chandler became my husband and together we lit a candle in Dad’s memory. We shared tears and smiles and love. Thankfully, since we all live at Australia Zoo as a family, we could be there for each other. To everyone reading this – stay safe, social distance and remember LOVE WINS!”

Irwin stepped in front of the camera at an early age. When she was 9, she hosted Bindi the Jungle Girl, a children’s wildlife documentary TV series. She’s done two instructional fitness DVDs and won Season 21 of Dancing With the Stars along with partner Derek Hough.

Melissa Joan Hart (Sabrina the Teenage Witch) — a DWTS alumna posted congratulatory wishes to the couple. “Tears of joy right now are streaming down my face!” Hart wrote. “Thank you for sharing your journey with everyone and doing it with such grace and beauty! God bless and keep you both!”
