Derek Hough is currently a judge on World of Dance and has toured the country with his show, Move Live, but he’ll always be best known for being one of the pros on Dancing With the Stars. Hough really became the household name he is today thanks to DWTS, as he competed in 17 seasons.

Though he’s moved on to other professional endeavors, there’s always hope he may return to the ABC competition show. From his very surprising movie cameo to indirectly winning a gold medal at the Olympics, here are five fast facts you should know about Derek Hough.

On the Move
Though Hough was raised just outside of Salt Lake City, Utah, he moved to London when he was just 12 years old after his parents divorced. He went to live and study dance with Corky and Shirley Ballas, who just so happen to be the parents of Mark Ballas, a fellow DWTS pro. Though Hough was only supposed to stay a year, he stayed for 10.

Surprise Cameo
Believe it or not, while Hough was living in London, he made a cameo appearance in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, which came out in 2001. He was one of the kids at Hogwarts and his younger sister, Julianne Hough, also had a cameo in the movie.

Surprising Cousin Connection
The Hough family is very large — there are five kids in total — but they also have an interesting extended family. In fact, Hough’s second cousin is actor Ross Lynch, who is best known for starring in the new Sabrina the Teenage Witch, the Disney series Austin & Ally, as well as the Disney movie Teen Beach Movie.

Won Gold
Back in 2013, Hough started working with champion ice dancers, Meryl Davis and Charlie White. They worked together to choreograph a number for the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Davis and White went on to win at the Olympics with that very routine, which means Hough indirectly also won an Olympic gold medal!

Holds The Record
Though he’s no longer on DWTS, Hough still holds the record for the most wins by a pro. Hough has won a whopping six times: with Brooke Burke in Season 7, Nicole Scherzinger in Season 10, Jennifer Grey in Season 11, Kellie Pickler in Season 16, Amber Riley in Season 17, and Bindi Irwin in Season 21.
