Fans of Dancing With the Stars have seen everyone from Bachelor stars to politicians compete, but some of the most interesting contestants have been soap actors.
While some of the actors had absolutely no natural dance ability, others came out of nowhere to surprise the competition and even win! Here are the top five best soap actors to ever compete on DWTS. See if our list matches up with yours.
1. Kelly Monaco
The General Hospital star won the first ever season of DWTS with her partner Alec Mazo. Monaco then returned for the All-Stars season with partner Val Chmerkovskiy and they ended up coming in third place, all while continuing in her demanding role as Sam on the ABC soap.
2. Cameron Mathison
Mathison competed on Season 5 of the show with pro Edyta Sliwinska while playing Ryan on All My Children. While he didn’t win, they did finish in fifth place with many memorable routines.

3. Lisa Rinna
Before joining The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, the former Days of Our Lives star competed on Season 2 of DWTS. Rinna and partner Louis van Amstel came in fourth place. It wasn’t just great for her to be on the show — it led to her appearing on Broadway in Chicago as Roxie Hart.
4. John O’Hurley
O’Hurley, who has starred in a number of soaps over the course of his career including All My Children, Santa Barbara, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless, was also on Season 1 of the show. He came in second place with partner Charlotte Jorgenson.
5. J.R. Martinez
The All My Children star, who played Brot Monroe, snagged the Mirrorball Trophy in Season 11 with his partner, Karina Smirnoff. He proved he was more than just an actor, best-selling author, motivational speaker, and U.S. Army veteran — he was also a fantastic dancer!
