Matt Hanvey is arguably The Bold and the Beautiful’s biggest fan. He’s certainly one of the show’s most well-known as evidenced by his social media posts on Instagram and Twitter. Soap Hub chatted with Hanvey at the Daytime Emmys last summer to get the scoop from B&B’s top supporter.
We all have opinions about our favorite shows, and Hanvey is no exception. He often posts commentaries about B&B that poke fun at the larger-than-life predicaments in which characters often find themselves. Soap Hub chatted with Hanvey when he attended the Daytime Emmys as Krista Allen’s (Taylor Hayes) guest.
“Krista’s a pretty amazing person,” Hanvey told Soap Hub about one of his B&B favorites. You can check out Hanvey’s posts below. In one of them, he had a little fun with the character of Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) by explaining the character’s position in life; Hanvey joked that Ridge always loves more the woman whom he’s currently not married to!
“That’s the thing,” Hanvey says. “I try to make [my posts] funny by [having the characters] say things that they wouldn’t actually say but are kind of true.” If B&B has a continuity boo-boo or if he sees a recurring theme on the show, he’ll gently point out what he believes the truth to be. The show’s actors are known to comment on his posts on occasion.
Has the online satirist ever gotten negative feedback from the actors in his commentaries? “I have always gotten nothing but great response,” Hanvey says. “The fans enjoy the posts. I’ll poke fun at all the characters, including my favorites. There are some things that the [show’s] writers can’t put in…if someone hasn’t liked what I’ve posted, they haven’t said anything to me.”
Just like Ridge, Hanvey says he can’t make up his mind between the designer’s two great loves. “I’m a Brooke fan and a Taylor fan,” he says. “I love both of those characters. It makes it hard when they’re going head to head with one another.”
Hanvey gives credit to Allen for doing what he considered impossible — successfully filling the shoes of Taylor’s predecessor, Hunter Tylo. “Krista has done an amazing job with the character,” he raves. “I never would have believed that someone could have done that. I’m in awe of her.”
In a few creative posts, Hanvey has taken showdown scenes between Brooke and Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and laid over Steffy’s dialogue similar words spoken once by Steffy’s namesake Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery).
