They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but we wonder what good is a picture when you can’t recognize the subject? Above is a snapshot of a future star of soaps, but can you guess who this young lady with the chic hat grew up to be?
Star Of The Soaps
Obviously this young woman (now all grown up) is either currently starring in, or is an alum of, one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless – but that’s probably not enough of a hint.
So try these on for size. She is a beauty pageant winner. Prior to acting, she worked as a model. Her film debut was an uncredited role in a Barbra Streisand picture. She is a soap hopper. And she was named one of Maxim magazine’s 100 Women of 2002.
But just who can she be? Is this a photograph of Jennifer Gareis (Donna Logan, BB), Arianne Zucker (Nicole Walker Brady, DAYS), Lynn Herring (Lucy Coe, GH), or Jessica Collins (ex-Avery Bailey Clark, YR)?
Arianne Zucker
Zucker’s early career consisted of work in commercials and modeling assignments in such exotic locales as France, Australia, and Japan. However, she never competed in a beauty pageant, so Zucker’s automatically out of the running as the potential answer to our identity query.
Lynn Herring
Before deciding to pursue a life as an actress, Herring competed in beauty pageants, winning the title Miss Virginia USA 1977 and coming in fourth for the title Miss USA 1977.
But even though she’s a soap hopper – having appeared in GH, DAYS (ex-Lisanne Gardner), Port Charles (as Lucy Coe), As the World Turns (ex-Audrey Coleman) – and her first appearance in a film went uncredited (she played a skater in the Linda Blair vehicle Roller Boogie), Herring isn’t today’s featured star.
Jessica Collins
And neither is Collins. This in spite of the fact that she has appeared in two daytime dramas – Loving (ex-Dinah Lee Mayberry Alden) and YR – and that she won the title Miss New York Teen USA 1988 and was the first runner-up for the Miss Teen USA 1988.
Jennifer Gareis
Before launching her acting career, Gareis competed in a number of pageants (winning the title Miss New York USA 1994) and she also spent time in New York City modeling for publications such as Glamour, Fitness, Esquire, and Women’s Wear Daily.
Her film, and indeed her professional acting, debut came courtesy of the Barbra Streisand/Jeff Bridges romantic dramedy The Mirror Has Two Faces (though her work went uncredited). Gareis subsequently joined the casts of two soaps, YR and BB and appeared in multiple films and primetime programs including Miss Congeniality and Veronica Mars respectively.
So if you guessed that the future star of soaps seen in the image above was Jennifer Gareis, then you were absolutely correct!
