They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but we wonder what good is a picture when you can’t recognize the subject? Above is a snapshot of a future star of soaps, but can you guess who this towheaded smiler grew up to be?
Star Of The Soaps
Obviously this young man (now all grown up) is either currently starring in, or is an alum of, one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless – but that’s probably not enough of a hint.
So try these on for size. He is a daytime serial hopper whom People magazine labeled 2001’s Sexiest Soap Star. He is also a music enthusiast and singer who’s released a self-titled CD and portrayed a singing candelabra in a Broadway show.
But just who can he be? Is this a photograph of Kyle Lowder (ex-Rick Forrester, BB), Eric Martsolf (Eric Brady, DAYS), Jacob Young (ex-Lucky Spencer, GH), or Michael Graziadei (ex-Daniel Romalotti, YR)?
Kyle Lowder
Lowder has indeed released a self-titled album. And he’s appeared on two daytime dramas – BB and DAYS. But despite appearing in a number of Off-Broadway productions – including the title role in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat – he’s yet to appear on Broadway. So he isn’t today’s featured star.
Eric Martsolf
And neither is Martsolf. This in spite of his eponymous CD (released in 2007) and status as a soap hopper – having played Ethan Crane on Passions and Brady on DAYS. Coincidentally, Martsolf spent four years playing the Pharaoh in the Kodak Theatre’s production of Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Michael Graziadei
On YR, Graziadei played the (adopted) son of Rock ‘n’ Roll sensation Danny Romalotti – who, again, coincidentally, played a character in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Off-screen, the actor is a music lover, guitarist, and songwriter.
However, he has not brought an inanimate object to life during a Broadway show and YR has remained the only soap opera he has appeared on. So, he isn’t the answer to today’s identity query.
Jacob Young
To many BB devotees, he is the quintessential Rick Forrester. To the fans of the ABC soaps, he’s known for his interpretation of GH’s Lucky (the role that earned him People magazine’s distinction) and his portrayal of All My Children’s JR Chandler. And to the lovers of Broadway’s take on the classic animated film Beauty and the Beast, he is Lumiere.
So, if you guessed that the future star of soaps seen in the image above was daytime alum Jacob Young, then you were absolutely correct!
