Who Did This Talented Young Thespian Grow Up To Play On Soaps?

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but we wonder what good is a picture when you can’t recognize the subject? Above is a snapshot of a future star of soaps but can you guess who this noir-lit youth grew up to be?

Star Of The Soaps

Obviously this young woman (now all grown up) is either currently starring in, or is an alum of, one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless – but that’s probably not much of a hint.

So try these on for size. She is a soap hopper (with three serials under her belt), a three-time Daytime Emmy Award winner, and quite adept at playing a villainess.

But just who can she be? Is this a photograph of Sarah Buxton (ex-Morgan DeWitt, BB), Mary Beth Evans (Dr. Kayla Brady, DAYS), Maura West (Ava Jerome, GH), or Barbara Crampton (ex-Leanna Love, YR)?

Sarah Buxton

Her character on Sunset Beach (Annie Douglas) toggled between outrageous villainess and put-upon heroine. But BB’s Morgan DeWitt was, without doubt, one terrifying loon.

Among her many misdeeds was her kidnapping Steffy Forrester (in a bid to raise the girl as her own child) and releasing a python into a room where one of her rivals slumbered! But despite that and Buxton’s status as a soap hopper, she isn’t today’s featured star.

Mary Beth Evans

Sure, Evans is undeniably a soap hopper. She has, after all, played major characters on Rituals (ex-Dakota), DAYS, GH, and As the World Turns (ex-Sierra Montgomery). And during her stint at GH, Evans played Katherine Bell, one of the soaps’ nastiest ladies. But she’s only snagged one Daytime Emmy for her work at DAYS (the ones for The Bay don’t count in this particular case). So she isn’t the answer to today’s identity query.

Barbara Crampton

And neither is Crampton. This in spite of her tour de force performance as YR’s resident bunny boiler and poison-pen wielding biographer, Leanna Love.

Maura West

West began her acting career at ATWT where she played Carly Tenney, the bad girl with a heart of (nearly) gold, for over two decades. For her efforts, West received eight Daytime Emmy Award nominations and she won the coveted statuette twice (2007 and 2010).

Upon ATWT’s cancellation, West briefly joined the cast of YR (in the role of Diane Jenkins) before settling into the part of Ava over at GH (a part that landed the actress her third Daytime Emmy).

So, if you guessed that the future star of soaps seen in the image above was Maura West – who posted said pic to her social media account with the caption, “Rehearsing Helen Keller…Ludlow High School” – then you were absolutely correct!
