They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but we wonder what good is a picture when you can’t recognize the subject? Above is a snapshot of a future star of soaps, but can you guess who this little plaid-clad cutie grew up to be?
Star Of The Soaps
Obviously, this young man (now all grown up) is either currently starring in, or is an alum of, one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless – but that’s probably not enough of a hint.
So try these on for size. He is foreign-born. His father was involved in the entertainment industry as a writer/story editor. During his daytime soap opera tenure, this actor was one-half of a popular supercouple. He has voiced an animated character for Disney. And he has played a character on the web serial The Bay.
But just who can he be? Is this a photograph of Ian Buchanan (ex-Dr. James Warwick, BB), Charles Shaughnessy (ex-Shane Donovan; ex-Drew Donovan, DAYS), Kin Shriner (Scotty Baldwin, GH), or Tristan Rogers (ex-Colin Atkinson, YR)?
Ian Buchanan
Buchanan was born and raised in Hamilton, Scotland, and his pairing opposite General Hospital co-star Finola Hughes (Anna Devane) was a firm fan favorite. And though he did voice a character on the animated series Gargoyles – which was produced by Walt Disney Television Animation – Buchanan has never appeared in The Bay nor was his father a known scripter. So, he isn’t today’s featured star.
Kin Shriner
It’s an undeniable fact that Scotty – the character that Shriner plays – and Laura’s love affair played a major part in rejuvenating an ailing General Hospital. However, Shriner was a New York City native, and he has neither appeared in episodes of The Bay nor voiced a Disney-created character.
Tristan Rogers
Rogers and Emma Samms sizzled in their roles as Robert and Holly – General Hospital’s answer to Jonathan and Jennifer Hart. And Rogers has not only played Lex Martin on The Bay since 2010, but he also provided the voice for Jake, a character in the Disney film The Rescuers Down Under. Alas, his father wasn’t involved in the entertainment industry.
Charles Shaughnessy
Shaughnessy was born in London, England, to actress Jean Lodge and Alfred Shaughnessy, a television writer most famous for shepherding the serial Upstairs, Downstairs.
During his eight-year stint on DAYS, Shaughnessy was one half of the uber-popular Shane Donovan and Kimberly Brady coupling. Among his subsequent endeavors, which also included the Fran Drescher sitcom The Nanny, was the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana, The Suite Life on Deck, and Dog with a Blog. Between 2010 and 2014, Shaughnessy played Capt. Elliot Sanders on The Bay.
So, if you guessed that the future star of soaps seen in the image above was Charles Shaughnessy, then you were absolutely correct!
