They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but we wonder what good is a picture when you can’t recognize the subject? Above is a snapshot of a future star of soaps, but can you guess who this broadly grinning cutie grew up to be?
Star Of The Soaps
Obviously this young woman (now all grown up) is either currently starring in, or is an alum of, one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless – but that’s probably not enough of a hint.
So try these on for size. Her first professional acting credit saw her appearing opposite a puppet. She is a soap hopper – with at least five daily soaps on her resume. She is well known for portraying one-half of a popular supercouple. And she is the producer and star of an award-winning web serial.
But just who can she be? Is this a photograph of Crystal Chappell (ex-Danielle Spencer, BB), Mary Beth Evans (Kayla Brady, DAYS), Genie Francis (Laura Webber Collins, GH), or Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott, YR)?
Crystal Chappell
Chappell has indeed starred in five daytime soaps – Santa Barbara (ex-Jane Kinsley), DAYS (ex-Carly Manning), One Life to Live (ex-Maggie Carpenter), Guiding Light (ex-Olivia Spencer), and BB. And she is the creator, producer, and star of Venice: The Series. However, SB served as her introduction to acting, so she isn’t today’s featured star.
Genie Francis
Francis has graced five daytime soaps with her presence – GH, DAYS (ex-Diana Colville), All My Children and Loving (ex-Ceara Conner Hunter), and YR (ex-Genevieve Atkinson) – but she hasn’t produced or starred in one that is exclusive to the web.
Eileen Davidson
Davidson, best known to YR fans as chemistry wiz Ashely Abbott, has only hopped to three other soaps – SB (ex-Kelly Capwell), DAYS (ex-Kristen DiMera; ex-Susan Banks; ex-Sister Mary Moria; et al), and she brought Ashley to BB. So she isn’t the answer to today’s identity query.
Mary Beth Evans
Evans launched her career in 1982 with an episode of Madame’s Place, a talk show parody starring Madame, a bawdy old movie star puppet controlled by actor/comedian Wayland Flowers.
Once established, Evans went on to appear in a plethora of other series including primetime programs like Father Murphy, Masquerade, Knight Rider, and Murder, She Wrote as well as daytime fare like Rituals (ex-Dakota Lane), DAYS, GH and Port Charles (ex-Katherine Bell), and As the World Turns (ex-Sierra Estaban).
So if you guessed that the future star of soaps seen in the image above was Mary Beth Evans – one-half of the beloved Patch/Kayla pairing and the producer/star of The Bay – then you were absolutely correct!
