They’re front and center (nearly every day) experiencing the whole gamut of emotions. But your favorite soaps stars also have other interests, and some of them have been able to parlay those interests into other careers.
Which Soap Star Was It?
All of these actresses are either alums of long-ago classics – like Another World, As the World Turns, or Loving – or they are either currently starring in or are alums of one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital and The Young and the Restless. And all of them have hosting experience. However, only one can claim that she ruled the roost at a makeover series titled How Do I Look?
But who can that actress be? Was it Linda Dano (ex-Felicia Gallant, AW), Terri Conn (Katie Peretti, ATWT), Heather Tom (Katie Logan, BB), Finola Hughes (Anna Devane, GH), or Lauren-Marie Taylor (ex-Stacey Donovan, Loving)?
Linda Dano
Dano spent 17 years portraying a romance-peddling fashionista and she served as style columnist for nearly as long. However, the closest Dano came to hosting a makeover series was during her tenure as co-host of Lifetime’s Attitudes, a daily talk show that occasionally featured styling segments.
Terri Conn
She’s best known for her roles as scheme queens Katie and Aubrey Wentworth on ATWT and One Life to Live respectively, but Conn is also recognized for her hosting duties on the home shopping network QVC.
Heather Tom
Though it’s probably difficult for many to picture Katie Logan getting her hands dirty on a construction site, Tom spent a year filming an HGTV design show titled Renovation Unscripted alongside her husband, James Achor.
Lauren-Marie Taylor
To daytime devotees, she’ll always be Loving’s much-lamented Stacey – who sadly ended up as the first victim of the Corinth serial killer. To fans of horror films, she has the distinction of being disposed of by Jason Voorhees in Friday The 13th Part 2. Those interested in home improvement and “do it yourself” type programming know Taylor for her daily craft series Handmade by Design – a former staple of the Lifetime network.
Finola Hughes
Hughes spent years hosting the Style Network series How Do I Look? which featured a contestant who had become derelict in their styling and grooming and who had been nominated for the series by a pair of friends or family members.
Hughes would work with the weekly guest to uncover the reason for their fashion choices and their reactions to having been chosen to participate in the program and later she would accompany the person on their transformative journey.
