Sometimes you just have to sing what you feel. And that fact is well known to a number of soap stars who have had to display their melodic talents in front of millions of daytime fans.

Which Soap Star Was It?

All of these actors are either an alum of, or are currently starring in, one of the four remaining soap operas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes., General Hospital and The Young and the Restless. And all of them are talented songstresses. But only one can claim that she sang lead vocals in Viva Las Vegas at the Sands Hotel.

But who can that actress be? Was it Bobbie Eakes (ex-Macy Alexander Forrester, BB), Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe Lane, DAYS), Lindsay Hartley (Sam McCall, GH), or Beth Maitland (Traci Abbott, YR)?

Bobbie Eakes

While still in her mid-twenties, Eakes led two cover bands – The Reporters and Ecstasy and in 1986, she won the coveted position of lead vocalist in the all-girl rock group Big Trouble.

During her tenure at BB, Eakes frequently sang romantic ballads, and she and her co-star Jeff Trachta (who played Thorne Forester, Macey’s on-again, off-again husband) recorded two CD’s full of music which was distributed to great acclaim in Europe. But despite this plethora of success, Eakes did not perform at The Sands Hotel.

Nadia Bjorlin

Bjorlin’s vocal abilities won her a plethora of awards and honors – including first place in the Metro Lyric Opera Competition in New York – and though her talents took her to such far-flung places as Verona, Italy, she never sang lead vocals at a show held in Las Vegas.

Beth Maitland

Maitland spent her early YR years singing alongside the likes of future Broadway star Michael Damian (Danny) and Tracey Bregman (Lauren) and her talents as a soloist were undeniable. In fact, a scene featuring Maitland’s Traci pouring out her heart and soul during a performance of Here’s That Rainy Day helped net the actress her Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress. But she isn’t the answer to today’s identity query.

Lindsay Hartley

Though Hartley is almost certainly best known for her nine-year stint as Passions’ Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald, she is also a heavily honored singer with awards that include The Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Vocal/Opera statuette. And at age 17, Hartley made history by becoming the youngest singer to ever headline a Las Vegas show when she took over lead vocals in The Sands Hotel production of Viva Los Vegas.

So if you guessed that the soap star in question was Lindsay Hartley – who recently returned to daytime after an absence of seven years – then you were absolutely correct!
