It’s not just the ordinary everyday folk who thrill over the opportunity to view their favorite daytime soaps and soap stars. Movie stars, singers, sports personalities, and even talk show hosts (and top models) can be ardent fans of the genre.

Which Soap Star Was It?

All of these actors are either an alum of a long-ago classic – like All My Children – or they currently portray a character on one of the four remaining soaps – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless. And all of them had a hand it guiding Tyra Banks through “soap school.” But only one of them trained her to defend herself during the inevitable hair-pulling catfight.

But who can that actor be? Was it Cameron Mathison (ex-Ryan Lavery, AMC), Martha Madison (Belle Black, DAYS), Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth Webber, R.N., GH), or Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers, YR)?

Cameron Mathison

In Tyra’s special salute to the soaps, Mathison played tour guide to the make-believe world of All My Children. Among the many sights were the elaborately painted skylines that would hang outside the set’s windows. Also of note, the actor revealed that due to limited studio space, the AMC sets were dismantled each night and reassembled every morning for a new day’s taping.

Martha Madison

Madison (with an assist from on-screen hubby Brandon Beemer) schooled Tyra on the art of the dramatic stare that usually accompanies an inner monologue. Both stars jokingly added that in the “trade,” such an action was referred to as a “John Black.”

Rebecca Herbst

It was only fitting that Herbst – who has spent decades tending to the injured and the infirmed inside General Hospital – would teach Tyra how to enact a deathbed scene.

Michelle Stafford

It was fiery Stafford who taught Banks the skill required to pull off the sometimes over-the-top soap opera brawl – and she even brought those trusty breakaway glasses to use as battering props!

So if you guessed that the soap star in question was Michelle Stafford – whose Phyllis has engaged in a number of verbal and physical tussles with the likes of Drucilla Winters, Sharon Newman, and Abby Newman – then you were absolutely correct!
