Actors of any kind – be they future soap stars or up-and-coming silver screen legends – never know exactly when their big break will come – or for what reason.
Which Soap Star Was It?
All of these actors are either alums of a long-ago classic – like Passions – or they are either currently portraying a character on, or they are an alum of, one of the four remaining soaps – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless. However, only one of them can say that they were “discovered” thanks to their appearance in a commercial for fast food eatery Taco Bell.
But who can that actor be? Was it Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy Forrester, BB), Kirsten Storms (ex-Belle Black Brady, DAYS), Lilly Melgar (ex-Lily Rivera, GH), Lindsay Hartley (ex-Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald, Passions), or Christian Le Blanc (Michael Baldwin, YR)?
Jacqueline MacInnes Wood
Wood’s initial claim to fame was playing “hair girl” in a commercial for First Choice Haircutters, a Canada-based hairdressing franchise. Off that success, Wood relocated to Toronto and began auditioning for every television program and film project she could find.
Kirsten Storms
At age 5, budding thespian Storms made a pronouncement: She was going to be a soap star. But she did settle for launching her career as a commercial actress. Her first advert was for Galoob Baby Dolls and she went on to appear in a plethora of others.
Lindsay Hartley
She was cast in her first professional role at the age of 14, but Hartley continued to hone her acting skills by appearing in a series of commercials for her parents’ Las Vegas-based Mexican import shop.
Christian Le Blanc
Fans of YR know Le Blanc for his 25-years-and-counting stint as sexual harasser turned underdog champion, Michael Baldwin. But little do they know, they have a commercial for Barq’s Root Beer to thank for the actor’s initial success.
Lilly Melgar
Melgar had some previous success with modeling campaigns and commercials but she was seriously considering leaving the entertainment industry and enrolling in college in order to study fashion merchandising.
However, before she could take any drastic action, her agent contacted her and revealed that producers of a highly-rated music video show were desperately wanting her to come in and audition for the vacant role of hostess. And it was all because one of the aforementioned producers had seen her work in a Taco Bell commercial!
So if you guessed that the soap star in question was Lilly Melgar, then you were absolutely correct!
