Which Soap Star Got ‘Lost’ And Co-Starred On The Drew Carey Show?

 Comments

Though they are primarily known for the roles they play on daytime, soap stars tend to have impressively long resumes.

Which Soap Star Was It?

All of these actors are either an alum of a long-ago classic – like Passions – or they currently star in, or are alums of, one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless. However, only one of them is credited as having appeared in both Lost (ABC’s island-set thriller) and workplace sitcom The Drew Carey Show.

But who can that actor be? Was it Rena Sofer (Quinn Fuller, BB), Robert Scott Wilson (Ben Weston, DAYS), Cynthia Watros (Nina Reeves, GH), Justin Hartley (ex-Fox Crane, Passions), or Marla Adams (Dina Abbott Mergeron, YR)?

Rena Sofer

After her triumphant reign as GH’s Lois Cerullo, Sofer turned her attention to primetime stardom. Over the next decade, she appeared in a number of series as both a recurring character, like NCIS, and as a series regular, like on Coupling. However, she never appeared in either Lost or The Drew Carey Show.

Robert Scott Wilson

Though he never acted in either Lost or The Drew Carey Show, Wilson certainly knew Carey by virtue of his appearing on The Price Is Right – the daily game show hosted by Carey – where he served as a male model.

Justin Hartley

Following his four-year run on Passions, former soap star Hartley joined the cast of a plethora of primetime programs. A small sampling includes CSI: NY, Chuck, Castle, Hart of Dixie, Emily Owens M.D., and Smallville. However, he never made appearances on either Lost or The Drew Carey Show.

Marla Adams

Adams starred opposite Drew Carey in an episode of the one season and done sitcom The Good Life. She played a Miss Kate Donnetti; he played series regular Drew Clark, the best friend of TGL protagonist John Bowman (played by comedian John Caponera). But that was the extent of Adams and Carey’s interaction and she not only never appeared on his eponymous comedy, but she never guest-starred on Lost.

Cynthia Watros

Off her Daytime Emmy Award-winning turn on Guiding Light and her two years spent working on the sitcom Titus, Watros joined the cast of The Drew Carey Show in the role of Kellie Newmark. She would remain a principal cast member for the comedy show’s final two seasons. Almost immediately after wrapping production, Watros began playing waylaid psychologist Libby on Lost.

So, if you guessed that the soap star in question was Cynthia Watros, then you were absolutely correct!
