All actors enjoy receiving praise, recognition, and accolades – no matter the genre or medium in which they perform. And soap stars are some of the most praised performers in the business – no doubt thanks to their ability to enact the equivalent of a one-act play every weekday.
Which Soap Star Was It?
All of these actors are either an alum of, or they are currently starring in, one of the four remaining daytime soaps – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless. But only one of them can claim that they were once cited by a national magazine as a daytime star with big-screen potential.
But who can that actor be? Is it Jacob Young (ex-Rick Forrester, BB), Hunter Tylo (ex-Marina Toscano, DAYS), Genie Francis (Mayor Laura Collins, GH), or Amelia Heinle (Victoria Newman, YR)?
Jacob Young
Young’s obvious good looks and innate talent earned him a magnitude of fans when he first entered the daytime arena. And they followed him from BB to his brief turn as Lucky Spencer on GH and then throughout his eight-year stint on All My Children.
People Magazine also took notice of the budding young thespian and they named him the Sexiest Soap Star in one of their 2001 editions. But, alas, he is not today’s answer.
Hunter Tylo
Tylo is undeniably beautiful – she did, after all, take a spot on two separate 50 Most Beautiful People In The World lists as well as a spot on a Soaps’ Sexiest Stars ranking – and is an acting dynamo but she isn’t the soap star in question.
Genie Francis
Poor Laura Webber Baldwin Spencer Collins. During the course of her lifetime, she has survived everything from kidnappings to gunshots to multiple nervous breakdowns – and she even has to live with the knowledge that she is a murderess twice over (lest anyone forget that she was the one shoved David Hamilton to his death and dealt Rick Webber that killing blow).
Is it any wonder that a magazine once dubbed her (and her portrayer) Soap Opera’s Tragic Princess?
Amelia Heinle
During her over 25 year association with soaps, Heinle has won the honors of being named one of TV’s Most Beautiful Women and one of Daytime’s Big Screen Potential Stars.
So, if you guessed that the soap star in question was Amelia Heinle – who has been playing YR’s Victoria Newman since March 21, 2005 – then you were absolutely correct!
