You watch them bring the magic every day on your television screens, but believe it or not, some of your favorite soap stars have talents that go way beyond their acting skill set.

Which Soap Star Was It?

All of these actors are either currently portraying a character on, or are an alum of, one of the four remaining soaps operas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless. But only one of them can claim that they co-authored their show’s very first, exclusive to the web, spinoff.

But who can that actor be? Was it Lawrence Saint-Victor (Carter Walton, BB), Crystal Chappell (ex-Dr. Carly Manning, DAYS), Carolyn Hennesy (Diane Miller, GH), or Eileen Davidson (Ashely Abbott, YR)?

Crystal Chappell

Despite featuring a plethora of familiar faces, Chappell’s web series Venice – the story of a gay interior designer living in the eponymous California beach community – was not a spinoff of Guiding Light. It was, however, inspired by a legion of fans clamoring for a continuation of that series’ same-sex coupling featuring Chappell’s Olivia Spencer and Jessica Leccia’s Natalia Rivera.

Carolyn Hennesy

Though she hasn’t tackled the plotting of a General Hospital spinoff, Hennesy did bring the story of Damian Spinelli to a bookstore near you. Hennesy’s novel, The Secret Life of Damian Spinelli, was released on April 5, 2011 – in recognition of the soap’s 48th anniversary – and its creation and publication were plot points in the series proper.

Eileen Davidson

Davidson never penned a web series, but she is an author in her own right. She had written four mystery novels with the assistance of novelist Robert J. Randisi (Death in Daytime, Dial Emmy for Murder, Diva Las Vegas, and Swinging in the Rain) featuring Alexis Peterson, soap star by day and amateur sleuth by night.

Lawrence Saint-Victor

Prior to his joining the cast of BB, Saint-Victor had already written, co-produced, and starred in a web series entitled Wedlocked. So it’s probably not surprising that he and his producing partner – and BB co-star – Karla Mosley (ex-Maya Avant Forrester) eventually teamed with Brad Bell, the soap’s head writer, to create Room8 – BB’s first web spinoff.

So, if you guessed that the soap star in question was Lawrence Saint-Victor, then you were absolutely correct!
