You know them as your favorite soap stars. But some of daytime TV’s biggest and brightest also had jobs outside of the genre that might really surprise you!
Which of These Soap Stars Was It?
All of these actresses portray a character on one of the four remaining soaps – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital. and The Young and the Restless. But only one of them can boast that she both co-hosted and served as narrator of a hidden camera reality show.
But who can that actress be? Is it Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy Forrester, BB), Kristian Alfonso (Hope Williams Brady, DAYS), Robin Mattson (ex-Heather Webber, GH), or Eva LaRue (ex-Celeste Rosales, YR)?
Jacqueline MacInnes Wood
Between December 5, 2013 and January 24, 2014, Wood could be seen hosting the E! network’s travel series Party On. The project was described as being dedicated to “exposing the best party scenes the world has to offer.”
During the eight episodes that followed, Wood lived it up in such exotic locales as Mykonos, St. Tropez (which also served as a special spot for the host’s on-screen parents, Ridge and Taylor Hayes), and Marrakech. However, the camera crew on this series was far from hidden.
Kristian Alfonso
The year 1990 was a banner one for Alfonso. Not only did she step away from DAYS – seemingly forever (surely Hope didn’t survive that tumble into a vat of acid!) – but she also became the host of the syndicated romance anthology Love Stories. The premise was simple: a real-life, married couple would discuss their storied courtship and actors would re-enact the events.
Robin Mattson
Mattson took her love for cooking to the next level when she enrolled in the Los Angeles International Culinary Institute. Subsequently, she spent nine months (June 1996 to March 19997) hosting a cooking show – The Main Ingredient – on the Lifetime network. And she did so while also appearing on ABC’s All My Children where she played Janet “From Another Planet” Green.
Eva LaRue
Between 1991 and 1992 (and right before she assumed the role of All My Children’s Maria Santos), LaRue co-hosted (alongside comedian Dom DeLuise), and narrated, the beloved prank comedy series Candid Camera – the series with the now infamous. “Smile, you’re on Candid Camera,” catchphrase.
So, if you guessed that perhaps the soap star in question was Eva LaRue – veteran of Santa Barbara, AMC, and YR – then you were absolutely correct!
