Bo and Hope’s house used to be one of the most prominent sets on Days of our Lives — the cozy, comfortable place where the couple shared some classic romantic moments and raised their children.
Beloved Days of our Lives Set
So the minute Hope (Kristian Alfonso) invited Steve (Stephen Nichols) to move into the home she once shared with her late husband (several months ago), viewers were eager and excited to see the long-missing set. After all, it had been years since Hope had a scene there.
Home, Not-So-Sweet Home
But that joy was squashed during the very first moment Steve turned up sleeping on a sofa in an unrecognizable living room. Then Hope walked in and asked how he’d slept. Suddenly, it was clear the nondescript set was Hope’s new/old home. And, to be honest, it was shocking.
No Hope — Imposter Set
One thought came to mind: What the hell happened? Hope’s home used to be quaint and impeccably decorated with all the right touches. It had a big, welcoming front door, a fireplace, and a staircase leading up the second-floor bedrooms.
Hope’s new/old home has none of the above. It looked like a bad Living Spaces display and lacked any signs of warmth and coziness. Obviously, the soap’s budget is small, which limits what set designers can do. Plus, making things even worse is the fact that the set looked exactly like Rafe’s (Galen Gering) lackluster house with a few minimal changes.
A Bad Dream
Hope’s dream home, which used to enhance every scene in it, sadly turned into a nightmare. The set actually detracted from every scene, because, as a viewer, all you could think about was, ‘What the heck happened?’ And, now with Hope gone, Belle (Martha Madison), Shawn (Brandon Beemer), and Claire (Isabel Durant) live there and we still sit and sonder what happened.
John (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena’s (Deidre Hall) condo is still top-notch, and so is Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) and Steve’s home. If/when Hope returns, she and her family deserve better. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
