The soap opera ratings race for the week ending May 11 show mixed numbers for three soaps, but more surprise for the little soap that could.
Days of Our Lives
While Days of Our Lives (DOOL) dropped back into last place, it’s clearly on the upswing from where it was a year ago when fans worried about the fate of the 52-year-old soap.
DAYS garnered 2,238,000 viewers on average overall, down 63,000 from the week before, but up a whopping 292,000 from the year before. It also made significant gains from the year before in all three female demographics.
General Hospital
General Hospital (GH) barely beat out DAYS for the third place spot with 2,290,000 viewers on average overall, up a slight 2,000 from the previous week, but down 35,000 from the previous year.
Unfortunately, GH dropped to last place in two of the three female demos and made no gains at all in these categories.
The Young and the Restless
The number-one-rated The Young and the Restless (YR) continued to fall in numbers, garnering 4,076,000 viewers on average overall, down 13,000 from the week before and 92,000 from the same time last year.
However, the soap did make gains from the week before with women 18-49 and 25-54.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful fared slightly better in terms of gains, pulling in 3,265,000 viewers on average overall, up 38,000 from the week before, but down 196,000 from the year before.
The only other place where B&B made any gains was from the previous week with women 25-54.
