Fresh on the heels of losing soap opera legend Agnes Nixon comes the news of another huge loss for the soap world today. Actor Larkin Malloy died of complications from a heart attack that he suffered on September 24, the day he turned 62.
Leading Man
He first burst onto the soap scene in 1980 when he joined the cast of Edge of Night where he played the role of wealthy Sky Whitney opposite Sharon Gabet’s Raven, a match made in heaven. He continued to play well-to-do characters from then on, being cast as Kyle Sampson on Guiding Light shortly after EDGE left the airwaves in 1984. He was paired with Kim Zimmer’s Reva Shayne, another hit coupling.
He later starred with the queen of daytime herself — Susan Lucci. His Travis Montgomery swept Erica off her feet. He also appeared on Law & Order and the film Big Daddy with Adam Sandler. In later years, he mostly worked as an acting coach, mentoring young soap actors.
Actor Walt Willey, who played Travis’s brother, Jackson Montgomery, on All My Children, shared the news.
