Soap Opera Ratings Race: GREAT Week For DAYS, Mixed Week For Others

The soap opera ratings race for the week ending July 6 once again shows Days of Our Lives (DOOL) as the little soap that could, while the other remaining daytime dramas keep chugging along with ups and downs.

Days of Our Lives
As has happened several times this year, DAYS was the only soap to make gains overall, garnering 2,163,000 viewers on average overall, up 81,000 from the week before and 118,000 from the year before.

DAYS also made gains from the week and year before with women 18-34 and 25-54. It also remained number four out of four soaps.

The Young and the Restless
In contrast, the number one rated The Young and the Restless continued to lose ground, pulling in 4,108,000 viewers on average overall, down 29,000 from the previous week and a whopping 350,000 from the previous year.

However, Y&R did make gains from both the week before with women 18-49 and 25-54.

The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful fared slightly better in terms of gains, garnering 3,383,000 viewers on average overall, up 44,000 from the previous week, but down 177,000 from the previous year.

B&B even jumped ahead of Y&R for the number one spot with women 18-34.

General Hospital
General Hospital fared nearly as badly as Y&R when comparing to previous numbers, pulling in 2,389,000 on average overall, down 110,000 from the prior week and 64,000 from the prior year.

GH also lost ground from both the week and year before in all four female demographics. Fans have been venting that the soap seems in disarray and dominated by two new characters, and it’s reflecting in the ratings.
