Soap Opera Ratings Race: DAYS Numbers Continue To Soar

The soap opera ratings race for the week ending June 22nd show another week of good news for Days of Our Lives (DOOL), bad news for General Hospital (GH), and mixed news for the CBS soaps.

Days of Our Lives
While still ranked at number four out of four remaining soaps, DAYS once again proves that it’s gained brand-new life over the last year.

DAYS garnered 2,245,000 viewers on average overall, up 14,000 from the week before and 195,000 from the year before. It was the only soap to see higher numbers from both the previous week and previous year.

DAYS also saw improvements from the year before in all three coveted female demographics.

The Young and the Restless
The Young and the Restless (YR) kept its number one perch as per usual, pulling in 4,121,000 viewers on average overall, up 16,000 from the prior week, but down a whopping 227,000 from the same time last year.

Y&R lost viewers all around with women 18-49, but gained viewers overall with women 18-34.

The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) saw the most improvement from the previous week of all four soaps.

The 31-year-old soap garnered 3,483,000 viewers on average overall, up 126,000 from the week before, yet down 77,000 from the year before.

However, B&B dropped to the third place spot below General Hospital with women 18-49 and only made improvements from the year before with women 18-34 and from the week before with women 25-54.

General Hospital
General Hospital continued to lose viewers, as fans have been put off by the soap revolving around two newer characters, Nelle and Peter.

GH pulled in 2,432,000 viewers on average overall, down 22,000 from the prior week and 7,000 from the prior year. GH also lost viewers all around in all three female demos.
