The week ending June 10 didn’t bear good news in the soap opera ratings race, as each of the remaining four shows saw falling numbers in the key 18-49 female demographic.
Overall, only “Days of Our Lives” saw an increase from the previous week, pulling in 34,000 more viewers, for a total of 2,127,000 viewers on average. However, it was down 194,000 from the same time the previous year and remained in the number four spot. In the 18-49 female demo, DAYS was down 9,000 from the previous week and 66,000 from the year before. In terms of households, the soap tied its all-time low for the third straight week.
Number three ranked “General Hospital” fared even worse in terms of lost viewers. The ABC sudser pulled in 2,522,000 viewers overall, down 276,000 from the week before and 318,000 the week before. In the 18-49 demo, GH was down 30,000 from the previous week and 105,000 from the same time last year.
While “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and The Beautiful” both retained their number one and number two spots, respectively, they also lost viewers overall and in the key female demographic. Y&R pulled in 4,692,000 viewers, but lost 70,000 from the week before and 210,000 from the year before. In the female demo, it lost 13,000 from the previous week and 69,000 from the previous year.
B&B pulled in 3,657,000 total viewers, but was down 76,000 from the week before and 122,000 from the year before. In the 18-49 key demo, it lost 17,000 from the previous week and another 122,000 from the previous year.
