Sure, they have flaws. But, the dads of daytime ultimately come through for their kids when it counts. This Father’s Day, we at Soap Hub tip our hats to a special dad from each remaining soaps “Days of Our Lives,” “Bold and the Beautiful,” “General Hospital and “The Young and the Restless!”

Despite their imperfections, each dad below comes through for his kids in times of need. After all, that’s what being a dad is about!

  1. Before John (Drake Hogestyn) and Paul (Christopher Sean) knew of their father-son connection on “Days of Our Lives,” they had some rocky times. John believed Paul intentionally tried to interfere in Will (Guy Wilson) and Sonny’s (Freddie Smith) relationship to land Will for himself–and he let Paul know it! After their DNA-based bond came to light, John went above and beyond for his son, rescuing him from the crazed Yo Ling’s clutches.

2. On “The Bold and the Beautiful,” Julius Avant (Obba Babatunde) spent years hiding from the world —and the rest of his family—that he fathered Sasha (Felisha Cooper). Since Nicole (Reign Edwards) revealed their relationship to the world, he’s made significant–albeit slow–progress to being the father he should have been all along. When he recently called a family meeting recently, he invited Sasha to be a part of it. Symbolically, this move made a big statement about how Julius sees Sasha–as a member of his family.

3. General Hospital’s” Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) also makes mistakes that hurt his children, but his love and sense of honor compel him to right his wrongs. He made the epic wrong move of sleeping with Ava (Maura West), but he got daughter Avery from it and recently decided he will do right by her by allowing her to know her mother. When he was forced into the tough decision of having a bipolar Morgan committed he did it, despite his misgivings, which saved Morgan’s life.

4. Then we have Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), perhaps one of daytime’s all-time most troubled patriarchs. He manipulates his children willy nilly. However, he’s always provided lavishly for them and has high-powered jobs available at Newman Enterprises–even from a prison cell.

We at Soap Hub wish all the dads out there a happy Father’s Day. We know it’s not always an easy job, and we honor you for doing it!
