Soap Opera Ratings Race: AMAZING News For DAYS, Mixed News For Others

The soap opera ratings race for the week ending February 9 shows Days of Our Lives on a skyrocketing rise, while the three other daytime dramas remain on a roller coaster.

Days of Our Lives
While DAYS remained number four out of four soaps, that didn’t stop it from making great gains from both the previous week and previous year. The 52-year-old soap garnered 2,529,000 viewers on average overall, up 117,000 from the week before and 320,000 from the year before.

DAYS also made gains in the coveted female demographics from the week before with women 18-34 and from both the prior week and year with women 18-49 and 25-54. In fact, DAYS jumped to number three with women 18-49.

General Hospital
General Hospital remained at number three, but the difference in number with DAYS shows the NBC soap catching up. GH pulled in 2,685,000 viewers on average overall, down 63,000 from the week before, yet up 48,000 from the same time last year.

Although GH lost viewers from the previous week and year in all three female demos, it retained its number two spot it stole late last year from The Bold and the Beautiful.

The Bold and the Beautiful
B&B had a mixed week, garnering 3,617,000 viewers on average overall, up 26,000 from the week before, but down 55,000 from the year before.

The soap also lost viewers from the prior week and prior year with all three female demos and tied its all-time low with women 18-34.

The Young and the Restless
Sister soap The Young and the Restless remained at number one, of course, pulling in 4,448,000 viewers on average overall, up 74,000 from the week before, but down 96,000 from the year before.

The only place where Y&R made any gains in the demos was from the prior week with women 18-49 and 25-54.
