Favorite Soap Opera Characters Who Started Off BAD

Everyone loves a bad boy or bad girl on a soap opera, but when one of them evolves into a good person, it’s even better.

The fact that soaps are on every day and it allows a character to slowly change over time makes the medium like no other. That growth can be mesmerizing to watch and makes us love them even more. Here are some of Soap Hub’s favorite reformed baddies.

The Young and the Restless
You wouldn’t know it now, but when Lauren (Tracey Bregman) first arrived in Genoa City, she was a Mean Girl.

She terrorized poor Traci Abbott and schemed against her to get the love of singer Danny Romalotti.

Things started to change when singer Lauren got a stalker, who terrorized her for months. This began a long road towards the sassy and caring Lauren that’s married to Michael (another reformed baddie!).

General Hospital
She may seem like the stalwart spitfire wife of mob boss Sonny, but Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) used to be far more lethal. She came to town with an agenda (sound familiar, Nelle?) to make nurse Bobbie Jones pay by stealing her husband. She wreaked havoc on her life, but over the years they have managed to put that behind them and forge a very loving bond.

Maturing, falling in love, and becoming a mother all seemed to play a part in mellowing out Carly, which is great because Port Charles wouldn’t be the same without her.

Days of Our Lives
There is no question that Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) was a thug when he first hit Salem. He kidnapped The Pawn (AKA John Black), made Bo’s life miserable, and was just an all-around troublemaker – until he met Kayla. She was a good girl, his nemesis’s sister, and while he may not have had honorable intentions towards her at first, knowing her and falling for her roughed out some of those jagged edges to make him the hero he is today.

The Bold and the Beautiful
While Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) may seem like goodness and light compared to Quinn (her turning “good” is still up for debate), she certainly didn’t start out that way. She laid eyes on Ridge Forrester and wanted him for herself, even if he was already in love with her best friend Caroline Spencer. She wasn’t able to break them up but when a dying Caroline wanted Brooke to take care of Ridge, something softened in her cold heart. Sure, she went on to spar with other women for his love, but a lesson was learned.
