Soap opera characters experience so much in their lifetimes because of the nature of the genre, where so much happens to just one person.
Whether it’s falling in love, having children, facing addiction, experiencing death (well, not that many stay dead but that’s another story), or any of the other life events, all can happen to the same character in a short span of time. But the sting of betrayal – that can affect a character like little else.
The Young and the Restless
Jack did his own share of horrible things, including sleeping with his father’s then wife, Jill. Well, Karma can be a bitter pill Mr. Abbott; especially if it’s one’s own baby brother administering it.
When Billy (Jason Thompson) slept with Sharon while she was married to Jack, that was bad enough. But to do it a second time – and with the love of his life, Phyllis, this time — well… forgiveness may be too much to ask.
General Hospital
Carly thought she had lucked out when Nelle (Chloe Lanier) agreed to come work for her. Nelle seemed to anticipate everything she needed and made herself indispensable. How many times did Carly stick up for Nelle when Bobbie tried to warn her?
Well, now that she’s heard Sonny admit to sleeping with the young woman, Carly’s foundation has been rocked to the core. Will either Nelle or Sonny survive her wrath?
Days of Our Lives
Betrayal isn’t limited to sleeping with someone else’s lover. Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) seemed like the most amazing friend in the world when she agreed to be a surrogate for Nicole and Daniel.
There wasn’t anything Nicole wanted more than to be a mom. So how could her best friend go behind her back…continue reading on the next page —>
There wasn’t anything Nicole wanted more than to be a mom. So how could her best friend go behind her back, take the fertilized egg, carry the baby to term – only to steal the baby from Nicole afterwards?
All Chloe wanted was for Nicole to sever ties with her dangerous boyfriend, which Nicole did! But Chloe still refused to turn over the baby and that is special brand of betrayal that those around the two women will likely never forget.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Eric was at first the only one to see that Quinn (Rena Sofer) wanted to change. His belief in her and his love appeared to work miracles, as Quinn was seemingly able to conquer her demons and remain on the right track.
That is until the hatred between her and Eric’s son Ridge turned to begrudging respect – and then lust. While Eric isn’t aware of this stinging betrayal yet, we worry about his health once he does. Knowing his wife betrayed him with his son will pierce his heart far worse than any knife ever could.
