Queens of Drama Cancelled by Pop After One Season

The unscripted series Queens of Drama has officially been cancelled by the Pop Network after only one season.

Queens of Drama followed former soap stars that form a production company to develop and produce a new soapy drama series. It showed them behind and in front of the camera as they worked together (or sometimes against each other) to create something they could eventually pitch and produce, hoping to land a pilot deal.

The series starred Lindsay Hartley (ex-Arianna Hernandez, Days of Our Lives), Crystal Hunt (ex-Lizzie Spaulding, Guiding Light; ex-Stacey, One Life to Live), Vanessa Marcil (ex-Brenda Barrett, General Hospital), Chrystee Pharris (ex-Simone Russell, Passions), Hunter Tylo, (Taylor Hayes, Bold & Beautiful), Joan Collins (ex-Alexis Carrington, Dynasty; ex-Alex, Guiding Light), Jason-Shane Scott (ex-Will, One Life to Live; ex-Chad, The Young and the Restless), and Donna Mills (Abby Cunningham, Knots Landing; ex-Madeline, General Hospital).

The 10-episode first season debuted on the POP Network on April 26, 2015.

Fans of the actresses wanted and received plenty of shade-throwing between the women, but despite all the cattiness between them, there was not enough viewer interest to sustain the program.

For fans of daytime soaps, Queens of Drama was a way to reunite some of the best leading ladies in both the daytime and the nighttime world.

“We’re excited to give fans a new perspective of these women with a reality series that debuts immediately following Pop’s exclusive live broadcast of the Daytime Emmys,” he added.
