Fans of Susan Lucci, a Daytime Emmy-winner for her role as legendary Erica Kane on All My Children, know that she can do comedy. Soon, her devotees will be able to see her as she’s been cast in a Jonah Hill film.
Deadline reports that Lucci is signed on to be a cast member in Outcome, a dark comedy Hill is both starring in and directing. The film’s cast if headlined by Keana Reeves (Matrix), Cameron Diaz (Charlie’s Angels), and Matt Bomer (ex-Ben, Guiding Light; Fellow Travelers).
Other cast additions to Outcome include David Spade (Saturday Night Live), Laverne Cox (Orange Is the New Black), Kaia Gerber (Palm Royale), Roy Wood Jr. (The Daily Show), and Atsuko Okatsuka (The Intruder).
Outcome is an Apple Studios production. The movie is written by Hill and Ezra Woods. The story focuses on Reeves’s character, who is named Reef, a damaged Hollywood star who dives deep into his dark past to confront his demons and make amends. No word yet on who Lucci will be playing.
Soap Hub caught up with her last December when she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Daytime Emmys last December. Asked about the possibility of returning to soaps, Lucci said, “I’m very honored and flattered [by the interest]. We’ll see.”
Comedy’s not new to Susan Lucci by any means. Not only did she find comedic moments in Erica’s life, but she’s guested on the sitcom the Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, AMC) and Faith Ford (ex-Julia, Another World) sitcom Hope & Faith in an episode that featured several daytime stars. After AMC wrapped, she played the role of Genevieve Delatour on Devious Maids.
