Justin Bruening and Alexa Havins, who played All My Children love birds Jamie and Babe, met and married on the now defunct ABC soap opera. Recently, Vincent Irizarry, who played David, Babe’s dad, ran into the couple and is sharing an update on them.
I Got You, Babe
“What a wonderful surprise running into these two beautiful kids the other evening, two of my very talented co-castmates on [AMC],” Irizarry said, referring to Bruening and Havins. “[She] played my fictional daughter on the show with [Bobbie Eakes, Krystal], who apparently named our daughter after an adorable piglet. Love them both!”
Both actors have stayed busy since AMC went off the airwaves. They can next be seen in Right Here, Right Now, which tells the tale of four high school students whose lives intersect. The quartet is forced to confront inner struggles and redefine their identities. Bruening and Havins play the characters of Mr. and Mrs. Turner.
Bruening played romantic Cade Maddox on streaming series Sweet Magnolias. Also, the actor came close to joining the super-hero world after being cast by David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, The Practice, Big Little Lies) in a pilot for Wonder Woman that starred Adrianne Palicki in the title role.
“I was very excited to get that job,” Bruening told TV Insider. “I’m a huge comic book fan. I’m a comic book nerd.
“I read for Steve Trevor twice,” the actor added. “David wrote so much humor into the show. Steve Trevor’s basically the damsel in distress. He’s the only one who can say, ‘My girlfriend is going to beat you up. Just wait till she gets here!’ Steve was capable in his own right, but he was the one getting saved. There was so much fun stuff. In one scene that didn’t make it in, [Diana and Steve] have a fight, a typical couple’s fight. I storm off and leave and then this huge bus flies by my head and I turned to her and said, ‘Really?’”
