Here are the latest comings and goings casting news from all four daytime dramas: The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless.

The Week of January 6, 2025

Find out if any of your favorite actors and actresses from yesteryear are returning to the shows you watch, if any newcomers have been cast in contract, recurring, or day-player roles, or if any popular performers are about to make their exit.

Days of our Lives

Recasts and returns are happening at DAYS.  Rachel Boyd will take over the role of Sophia Choi on February 12. Boyd’s credits include the movie Boot Camp and He’s Not Worth Dying For. She’ll replace Madelyn Kientz, who made her debut in 2024.

Finley Rose Slater is out as Rachel Black. Alice Halsey will premiere on April 24 as Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Kristen’s (Stacy Haiduk) daughter.  

Two familiar faces are heading back to Salem. Kim Coles appears as Whitley, the crazed nurse who kidnapped Abe (James Reynolds) on February 5. And Emily O’Brien resurfaces for another run as Gwen Rizczech on March 10.  

Michael Dietz is joining the soap for a short story arc in April. Daytime fans will remember the actor for his portrayals of Alan-Michael Spaulding on Guiding Light, Joe Scanlon on Port Charles, and Mark Maclaine on The Bold and the Beautiful.

As for this week, Madelyn Kientz returns as Sophia on Wednesday, January 8 and Thursday, January 9. She’ll have scenes with Ashley Puzemis’ Holly and Leo Howard’s Tate. 

Shi Ne Nielsen makes another appearance as Sophia’s mother, Amy Choi. She’ll interact with Eric Martsolf and Leo Howard on Tuesday, January 7.

Derek Yates pops back in as Kerry. He works opposite Al Calderon’s Javi on Tuesday, January 7.

Finley Rose Slater airs as Rachel on Wednesday, January 8. The precocious kid interacts with Stacy Haiduk’s Kristen and Tamara Braun’s Ava. 

The Bold and the Beautiful

A prominent newcomer is heading to B&B—Murielle Hilaire debuts as Daphne Rose on Tuesday, January 7. The famous perfumier makes a bid for her fragrance line at the premiere fashion house.  (This may shift due to CBS News press coverage.)

Elsa Esnoult resurfaces as Fanny Greyson. Her character also pitches a fragrance line to Lawrence Saint-Victor’s Carter and Annika Noelle’s Hope on Tuesday, January 7. (This may shift due to CBS News press coverage.)

Meanwhile, Lisa Yamada gets more screen time as Luna Nozawa. The former prisoner appears on Monday, January 6, in scenes with Don Diamont’s Bill.  

The Young and the Restless

Nate’s (Sean Dominic) half-brother finally materializes on Y&R. Nathan Owens debuts as Damian on Wednesday, January 8. The character is the son of the late Nathan Hastings and Amy Lewis (Valarie Pettiford). Owens played Cameron Lewis on Days of Our Lives from 2012 to 2013. 

Valarie Pettiford makes another appearance as Amy on Thursday, January 9. She’ll interact with Sean Dominic.

Ray Wise is back as the dastardly Ian Ward. He appears on Monday, January 6, in scenes with Eric Braeden’s Victor Newman. 

Colleen Zenk returns as Jordan Howard. Look for the diabolical character to go rogue on Thursday, January 2.

General Hospital 

Parry Shen is back on the GH scene as Brad Cooper. The lab tech airs on Monday, January 6 and on Friday, January 10, in scenes with Josh Kelly’s Cody.

Jeff Kober returns as the duplicitous Cyrus Renault. The character does some eavesdropping on Thursday, January 9.

Michael Knight pops in as Martin Grey. The attorney has some sparring scenes opposite Carolyn Hennesy’s Diane on Thursday, January 9.
