While love in the afternoon is supposed to rule on daytime soaps, that isn’t always the case. Writers like to change things up from time to time… and sometimes it’s murder on fans.
That’s because someone gets killed and fans have to say goodbye. But sometimes it’s a character you’re glad to see meet a horrible end. Soap Hub wanted to get the true lowdown on how you feel about murder mysteries on soaps. Almost 6,000 of you told us!
It’s All About The Who
For 54% of you, it completely depends on who is killed. After all, if it’s someone you loved, you’re going to be furious and could possibly switch the channel. But if it’s a terrible character, well then you’re all-in!
Kill the Mystery
Then there’s the 19% who hate them all because it means someone has died and you don’t want that on your soaps! You like love in the afternoon, not death. And you love the cast; the WHOLE cast!
You can’t bear for someone to have to leave the show and that’s what these types of stories do. Nope, you’re having none of this!
It’s Killer Fun
You love a good mystery, say 16%, and you can’t wait for the next one. You don’t care who is the victim or the killer: It’s all about the who-done-it aspect that keeps you tuning in and glued to your TV . It means the story is moving, people have something to say and do, and that keeps you interested.
The Blame Game
But who is going to be blamed? That’s what decides if you like a murder mystery say 11% of you. If the right person is blamed to your mind, then you can get into the story and enjoy it. However, if they choose the wrong one then you may not be on board.
