Former Bachelor star Jamie Otis is getting honest about suffering from postpartum depression. Not only has she been through a number of devastating miscarriages, but the Married at First Sight alum also had a hard time following the birth of her daughter, Henley Grace.
Jamie, who welcomed her daughter Henley with husband Doug Hehner in August 2017, shared an emotional post about depression to Instagram.
“Post-partum depression. It’s real & it’s the worst….BUT it is manageable. First step to healing is recognizing you’re suffering from depression (this is true even if you didn’t just have a baby),” she captioned a photo of herself with her daughter.
“There is such a stigma associated with mental illness but if your heart wasn’t working correctly you’d take meds, have surgery, go to therapy – *anything* to make sure it functions properly – so why is it any different if your brain isn’t working correctly?”
While the 32-year-old has been open with fans about a number of things going on in her life, she’s always been a bit fearful to discuss her depression.
“The biggest issue around this is that no one shares openly about their struggle with mental illness bc of the fear of judgement,” she revealed.

“I am even scared to be honest about my struggle with depression — It’s the one thing I try to hide most in life. Bc the judgement is real.”
She added, “But what if we bonded together and began sharing? Darkness cannot remain if we all bring our flickers of light into it.”
Jamie and her husband Doug sadly went through a devastating miscarriage — their second in less than a year — but they are remaining hopeful they’ll have another child soon.
They also lost their son Johnathan back in 2016 when Jamie was just 17 weeks into her pregnancy.
