Babies make the soaps go around. Or, at least, pregnancy stories bring on the angst. Plus, the babies of today will grow up to be the leading men and women of tomorrow. Very often much sooner than anyone expects.
But it’s one thing to play who’s the daddy, and another to have the living, breathing, squirming, drooling creatures front and center on your screen. Do soaps need more babies? Here’s what almost 10,000 of you cooed for us.
Birth Control
It’s bad enough we had Nicole (Arianne Zucker) on Days Of Our Lives (DOOL) screeching about Holly, or the endless games of Pass The Lizzie on The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). Children should be seen (periodically), but their own screeching rarely heard on soaps, vote a grownup favoring 58%.
You prefer that your favorite characters have other, outside interests, including corporate intrigue, law and order, and love in the afternoon.
Keep the kids “upstairs” for as long as possible and hold off on giving them any siblings!
Baby Love
Aw, come on, counter a more soft-hearted 41%. Can there be anything more precious than a hardened hitman cradling a tiny tot that, by all rights, should have been his, the way that Jason (Steve Burton) did with Scout the other day on General Hospital (GH)?
Even the great and powerful Victor (Eric Braeden) gets mushy around his tiniest grandchildren, like Christian, Conner, and Faith (Alyvia Alyn Lind) and forgets to tell them how they’re disrespecting and disappointing him on The Young and the Restless (YR).
Babies bring out the best, even in bad guys. Have you forgotten that GH’s Sonny (Maurice Benard), DAYS’ Stefano (Joseph Mascolo), B&B’s Quinn (Rena Sofer), and the aforementioned Victor do everything “for their children?” Can you imagine how insufferable they’d be without a sweet little face to neutralize them?
