Daytime And Primetime Soap Vet Passes Away

The soap world mourned another death when a longtime sudsy actress passed away. She was best known for appearing on two popular shows.

Jeanna Michaels, a veteran actress of screen and stage, passed away from lymphoma on May 23rd at the age of 62. She is remembered by soap fans for her runs on General Hospital and Dallas.

Broadway World first reported the news of Michaels’ death, noting that in light of her passing the Compass Players, a theater group that Michaels founded and where she served as Producing Artistic Director, was canceling its upcoming 2019 season.

“We are all deeply saddened by Jeanna’s passing,” said founding member Dave Golden. “She was the inspiration and driving force behind Compass Players and will be missed on so many levels.”

Michaels played Connie Brasher, Bobby Ewing’s (Patrick Duffy) on Dallas from 1978-81. Connie had, of course, an unrequited crush on her boss, but in one episode she gave him a supportive peck, which left a lipstick mark that didn’t go unnoticed by Bobby’s wife Pam (Victoria Principal).

Next, Michaels joined the cast of GH in 1983 as federal agent Constance Townley. She arrived on the scene after Luke (Anthony Geary) had split from Holly (Emma Samms), but before Laura (Genie Francis) returned from the dead. Luke and Connie shared a summer of action and romance, but she left town before Laura returned.

The actress’ other credits include The Last Convertible, Who’s The Boss, Matlock, and Jake and the Fatman.
