General Soap Operas

THIS Is Your Favorite Type of Off-The-Wall Soap Story!

While some soap opera fans say they prefer to have romance and family drama, there’s no mistaking that some of the genre’s crazier storylines are what keep fans on the edge of their seats!

The movie Soapdish personified this in a classic scene with Whoopi Goldberg, where her character Rose, the head writer, had to explain that the character they wanted her to bring back from the dead had actually been decapitated. “How am I supposed to write for a guy who doesn’t have a head?”

Soap Hub wanted to know which classic soap story is your favorite and you didn’t disappoint! Over 17,500 weighed in to let us know and here are those results!

Bring ‘Em Back Alive
Whoopi Goldberg’s Rose should have realized that no one would care what she had to do to bring back a favorite character because 65% of you are in total agreement that back from the dead is the absolute best of the crazy stories soaps love to tell!

Right now, Days of Our Lives is basking in the fabulous story possibilities of a newly-returned Jack (Matthew Ashford). Last year it was Will (Chandler Massey) who returned. You appreciate when a show realizes it was wrong to have written off a favorite and applaud when they rectify the situation!

Perhaps The Young and the Restless could take a page from that and bring back Hilary (Mishael Morgan)! They did it once before when Cane (Daniel Goddard) was killed and it turned out it was his twin who was killed!

Evil Twins
Speaking of twins, for 22%, it’s all about the evil twin so you know General Hospital viewers are thrilled now that they have the most evil twin of them all, Ryan (Jon Lindstrom), back and causing trouble for Kevin and the rest of Port Charles.

He’s a serial killer and doing away with some of the cast. Perhaps they should look above for inspiration. Paging Kiki stat!

Baby Switch
Despite baby switching only getting 13% of your votes, The Bold and the Beautiful’s compelling baby story is currently capturing viewers’ hearts as they feel horrible for Liam (Scott Clifton) and Hope’s (Annika Noelle) suffering but wait anxiously for this story to play out.

The fallout when her parents learn that that baby Beth didn’t die, and instead was adopted by Liam’s ex-wife, will keep story going on the show for years to come!
